WP Media Directories offers two ways to move files. Fast moves only the file. Rewrite moves the file and updates its links in your post content and excerpts, running in the background for large moves. Admins pick the default, and editors are asked when moving many files at once.

Which links does Rewrite update?+
Links in post and page content and excerpts, plus the attachment's own records. Links saved by page builders like Elementor, in ACF fields, widgets, or theme settings are not updated yet.
Do I need Rewrite for every move?+
No. Fast is fine for files that are not used in any posts yet, and it is quicker.
