Switching from FileBird? Here's the honest path.
You're leaving database labels for directories that exist on disk. The Media Library stays familiar—the model changes.
FileBird organizes media with virtual folders in the database. WP Media Directories uses real directories under your upload basedir. The two folder UIs cannot run together—disable FileBird before activating WP Media Directories. Folder labels do not automatically become disk folders in v1; you rebuild physical structure.
Hard rule
If FileBird is active, WP Media Directories shows an admin notice and does not mount its folder UI. Deactivate FileBird first.

- You're fine rebuilding folder structure once for long-term clarity

- You only want light tagging and never care about paths on disk

What does not auto-migrate in v1: FileBird virtual folder assignments → physical directories. No promise of zero-touch conversion.
