What is WP Media Directories?+
A WordPress plugin that adds real folders to the Media Library you already use. Each folder is an actual directory on your server, not a database label.
Is there a free version?+

Is this like FileBird?+
Both add a folder tree to the Media Library. FileBird's folders are labels stored in the database, so your files stay in year/month folders on the server. WP Media Directories moves files into real folders. You can only run one of the two at a time.
Will moving files break my posts?+
Not if you choose Rewrite when you move. Rewrite updates the image links in your post content and excerpts. Fast moves only the file, which is fine for images you haven't used yet. Links saved by page builders like Elementor, or in ACF fields, are not updated yet.
What happens if I stop paying?+
The folder tools switch off, but your files stay exactly where they are on your server, in the same folders, at the same URLs.
What is Unassigned?+
Attachments not inside any Folder, including files still in WordPress year/month paths.
What does Reconcile do?+
Imports unknown files under the upload basedir and flags attachments with missing files.
Does it work on multisite?+
Yes, per site. Each site has its own folders and settings. License by site count.
Do I need manage_options?+
Editors with upload_files use the tree and Sync now. Settings and schedule require manage_options.
Can I hide directories without deleting them?+
Yes. Add it to the hide list in settings, or drop a hide marker file in the folder. Nothing is deleted.
What WordPress versions are supported?+
Requires WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 7.4+ (per plugin headers).

How does licensing work?+

Will it work with S3 / offload plugins?+
Physical folders need a real upload basedir. Check /compatibility before buying if you offload media.
Can I switch from FileBird without losing files?+
Yes. Your files stay on disk. FileBird's folder labels don't turn into real folders automatically, so follow /switch-from-filebird to rebuild them.
